At www.211texas.org, parents have a single point of access where they can search for either private or public-assisted care and educational services for children.

The new search feature draws on information from the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Workforce Commission, the Texas Head Start Collaboration Project, and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, expanding the previous list of child care resources to include all children’s services in public schools. Information about the services is updated on a regular basis.

Parents can locate and learn about licensed and registered child care, pre-kindergarten and after-school programs, and educational services for children with special needs. Results are sorted by ZIP code, by city or by county. Parents who need help paying for child care can use the website to request information about financial assistance for child care services.

Like its telephone counterpart, www.211texas.org also offers information for those seeking help with broader needs such as food, shelter, medical care and thousands of other benefits and services provided locally. The website and 2-1-1 Texas are services offered through collaboration between the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and local government and community groups. Both services pull information from a network of more than 20,000 organizations statewide.

The information found at www.211texas.org is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by dialing 2-1-1 anywhere in Texas.
